4. AJ Styles Defeats John Cena (Money In The Bank)
After defeating Chris Jericho at Fastlane, AJ Styles didn't have an awful lot of success on the next three pay-per-view events. At WrestleMania, Jericho gained his revenge, a result many fans on social media deemed a mistake on WWE's part. Thrust from there into the WWE Title picture, Styles was defeated by Roman Reigns at both Payback and Extreme Rules.
Despite coming out on the losing end, AJ looked awesome against Reigns on both occasions. At Extreme Rules in particular, his performance was simply world class. There were worries that John Cena would ruin Styles completely by running over the top of him at Money In The Bank.
Instead, Styles was booked to win, albeit with help from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Looking beyond the screwy nature of the finish, this was AJ Styles beating WWE's poster boy for the past decade on pay-per-view. That's not something many believed would ever realistically happen.
The win ably sets up a rematch between both men. Even if Cena wins the next time, at least WWE did right by AJ at Money In The Bank.
