4. Ugly - The Exies (Survivor Series 2004)

Overlooking the fact that both Maven and Gene Snitsky wormed their way into the main event of a Survivor Series, 2004 was a generally good year for the Big Four. Musically, each had their own style and at Survivor Series, WWE called on the recently released Ugly by The Exies.

The song manages to have a dark edge whilst acting as a roaring call to arms. With the message, summed up in the line “Are you like me?” Ugly leads into a wallowing sense of self-deprecation, punctuated by singer Scott Stevens’ forceful vocals. The us-against-them tone that the song beautifully strikes was the perfect mirror to the feuding teams battling on the night.

Some have argued that the song's distinctive chorus shares a lot of similarities with that of previous Survivor Series theme, Always by Saliva. Whilst the chugging power chord structure of the respective choruses are similar, the overall effectiveness and tighter correlation to the event make Ugly the more coherent choice for this list.
