10 Best WWE PPV Themes
3. My Way - Limp Bizkit (WrestleMania X-Seven)
Very few songs actively implore their listener to “Check out their melody”, opting for the more familiar technique of allowing the actual song to do that for them. Not so in the case of My Way by Nu Metal figureheads, Limp Bizkit, who in 2001 provided the theme song for arguably the most popular WWE event of all time.
Acting as the musical linchpin to one of the greatest WrestleMania rivalries in WWE history, the song builds from a reserved beginning to an explosive chorus, forever synonymous with the expertly produced video packages from the event.
The rebellious and rambunctious nature of the song perfectly accompanied the energy that WWE exuded at the time. The era of mega stars was in full swing and despite how much mainstream attention WWE were enjoying, there was still a lingering counter culture mentality that radiated from the company.
Beyond simple ties to WrestleMania X-Seven, the song choice can be seen as a statement on the industry at the time. After defeating long standing rivals Ted Turner and WCW, the song and its message came across as an emphatic Nu Metal victory cry from the roof tops.
Limp Bizkit would go on to provide more music for WWE, with even another WrestleMania theme two years later, but nothing would come close to being as iconic as My Way.
