2. Spoilin' For A Fight - AC/DC (Survivor Series 2008)

When AC/DC allowed Highway to Hell to be used for SummerSlam 1998, they became the third established artist to provide music for a WWE event. With Phil Collins and Aretha Frankin used to promote WrestleMania I and III respectively, AC/DC felt like the first musical choice that reflected the blossoming attitudes of a new generation of wrestling fans.

Since then, AC/DC have provided multiple tracks for the WWE including two for the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania and Spoilin' For a Fight for Survivor Series 2008. One of Vince McMahon’s personal favourite bands, AC/DC have a good relationship with WWE and were even pegged to perform at WrestleMania XXV before scheduling conflicts resulted in their spot being given to Kid Rock.

Spoilin' for a Fight is a quintessential AC/DC track. A thumping, relentless drum beat under a throbbing bass and crunching, simplistic guitar riff, it simply drips with machismo before giving way to the familiar dirty blues growl of singer Brian Johnson.

The song’s lyrics parallel the story of the event, with John Cena returning to the ring after recovering from a herniated disc. After an absence of nearly three months, Cena was scheduled to compete in the main event of the show in a match against Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship.

With the rest of the card based around traditional Survivor Series matches, the song managed to fit the format of the show and provide an injection of fun into what turned out to be a rather average show.
