One of the names dropped when talking about who the absolute biggest draw of all time is, Stone Cold Steve Austin spoke with an intensity on the mic that is unrivalled by all but an elite few. His take no prisoners blue collar working man persona was originally supposed to be a heel, but as times started to change, the fans got behind the man they considered their representative. That was the biggest draw about Stone Cold. He was every single member of the audience who was pissed off with their job and their boss, stuck under a glass ceiling despite their hard work and dedication to be the absolute best it was at what they did. Much like CM Punk did in recent times, whenever Austin grabbed the microphone and spoke, it felt like he was saying exactly what you were thinking. He's also responsible for one of the greatest promos of all time, the 'Austin 3:16' promo he ad-libbed after defeating Jake 'The Snake' Roberts in the finals of the 1996 King Of The Ring. He declared to Roberts that his time over and that it was Austin's time now, stating: "You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about your psalms, talk about John 3:16, Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!" before signing off with the immortal line; "And that's the bottom line, 'cos Stone Cold said so!"
