There are a lot of things to complain about when it comes to modern day Monday Night RAW. The 50/50 booking of WWE means nobody ever gets over. Part-timers dominate the most important shows of the year, and the dreary times of LOL CENA WINS have been replaced by a never-ending struggle to make Roman Reigns the face of the company. It is all rather infuriating.

The negatives make it easy to ignore the incredible wrestling times we live in. The 2016 Clash of the Champions was the first RAW-exclusive pay-per-view of the new brand split, and the card featured great wrestling from top to bottom.

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins? Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn? Charlotte vs. Sasha vs. Bayley? Cesaro vs. Sheamus? All of these matches were good to great, with Reigns vs. Rusev and TJP vs. Kendrick also veering on the better side of things. Cesaro and Sheamus brought their best of seven series to an end with a bruising encounter, and Owens and Rollins brought ROH-credibility to the WWE main event.

Clash of Champions 2016 was a night of great wrestling. Nothing more, nothing less.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
