By 2006, WWE was straining to rekindle the Attitude Era magic, particularly on their flagship Raw program, which explains the McMahons' bizarre feud with Shawn Michaels.

Michaels' religious beliefs were even employed in the story, as he would team with "God" in a match against Vince and Shane, which of course ended up being a handicap match. Vince demanding the referee check "God" for weapons is still hilarious years later.

The handicap match was pretty entertaining, but was outdone by two great title bouts: a triple threat for the WWE Championship pitting John Cena against Edge and pre-DX revival Triple H, and Rob Van Dam wagering his Money in the Bank briefcase against Shelton Benjamin's Intercontinental championship.

Not even Kane's "May 19" nonsense could sully the event.
