9. Vince McMahon Is Relieved Of His Duties (18 July 2011)

"I love you, pop".

Triple H sounded like an absolute berk when he came out with that mushy twaddle the night after Money In The Bank 2011. This was a huge time for WWE; they were in the midst of one of their most stimulating angles in years (more on that later) and CM Punk had just thrown the company into chaos by winning the WWE Title 24 hours earlier.

On Raw, Triple H solemnly told an emotional Vince McMahon that the board of directors no longer had confidence in his abilities to steer the ship. In other words, the longstanding patriarch of WWE was being put out to pasture, and he was turning on the waterworks before going, damn it.

Mere minutes after he was poised to fire John Cena for failing, McMahon was tearfully thanking fans for their support. As the cameras faded to black, people wondered if this was a legit on screen ending for the Mr. McMahon character.
