One of many false starts for Cesar came at the February 14 2014 episode of Smackdown. The Swiss Superman was on a serous role, establishing himself as one of, if not the, best in-ring performers on the active roster, capable of having cracking matches with just about anyone.

Including Randy Orton who, though he may be a tremendous performer between the ropes, has suffered from overexposure and character mismanagement over the past three or four years. Also going against them was the fact that both men were technically heels, although the live crowd were clearly angling for that Cesaro face turn.

These two guys have great chemistry and produced another in a series of creditable matches here. It was back-and-forth and well-paced and really looked as though either guy could win it. But, amazingly, Cesaro did, pinning the then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion cleanly with his Neutralizer.

There may be a disproportionate amount of early-to-mid 2000s matches on here but make no mistake about it: when they want to, Smackdown can still put on a rewarding, four-star affair featuring super talented performers.
