Okay, hands up who else was surprised by the quality of the matches between Batista and The Undertaker in 2007? Yeah, me too.

The heavy-hitters almost stole the show in the WrestleMania 23 midcard, putting everything they had out there as a 'f*ck you' for their perceived low placement. They exceeded expectations once more at Backlash in April, fighting to a draw in a match held under Last Man Standing rules.

Unfortunately, The Deadman injured himself in that match and would require surgery and time off to heal. That meant he had to drop the World Heavyweight Title he had won at 'Mania. When WWE booked 'Taker versus Batista in a steel cage on the May 11 Smackdown, most assumed it was returning to The Animal.

Oh how wrong they were. After a gruelling twenty minutes, the match ended in a draw when both men's feet hit the floor at the same time. After the decision, a returning Mark Henry stormed the ring and put a beating on The Phenom, laying him out.

That left him easy pickings for Edge, who had won the Money in the Bank Briefcase from (an also injured) Mr. Kennedy just days earlier on Raw. Cashing-in once more, The Rated-R Superstar became the show World Heavyweight Champion and a Smackdown superstar.

The match itself was pretty damn good and full of drama, but the post-match scenes really put it over the top.
