10 Best WWE Survivor Series Grand Finales That Didn’t Happen
2. 1989 - Four On Four
Faces: Dusty Rhodes, Brutus Beefcake, Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior Heels: Randy Savage, Earthquake, Dino Bravo, Mr. Perfect This match would have been outstanding because there was so much talent with some of the top faces matched up with some of the best heels from that time period. Plus, the four on four setting makes it seem like a traditional Survivor Series match, too. There were five 4-on-4 elimination matches at this show. Hogan was the sole survivor against Ted Dibiase's Million $ Team, the Ultimate Warrior was the lone man to last against The Heenan Family and Rhodes & Beefcake lasted until the end for the Dream Team. As for the heel side, Savage led a successful team where Earthquake and Bravo survived with him. Mr. Perfect was the only survivor on his team led by Rick Rude against a team that was run by Rowdy Piper. Hogan was the WWE Champion while Warrior was getting pushed to the top as the Intercontinental Champion and it was his match, not Hogan's that ended the show. On the heel side, Savage was the best performer in the company, going through his 'Macho King' phase. The massive Earthquake was booked like an unbeatable heel. Perfect was an outstanding performer that probably should have been WWE Champion at some point. Bravo wasn't quite on the same level as the others, but he was decent enough. How I Would Have Booked It: The no-brainer idea would have been to have Hogan and Warrior as the last two survivors, but that's not what I would do. Since they were building to Hogan vs. Warrior at WrestleMania VI, the focus had to be on them, although the spotlight should have been on Warrior more than Hogan. The problem is that Hogan didn't get pinned much, so his elimination would have to be something like a countout after Savage and Earthquake attacked him. Have it come down to Warrior and Savage with Warrior getting the win to make it look like he can't be stopped. That's how you build a star for the future.
