10 Best WWE Survivor Series Grand Finales That Didn’t Happen

3. 2006 - A Big Night For The Good Guys

Face Team No. 1: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy (Team DX) Face Team No. 2: John Cena, Bobby Lashley, Ric Flair It was a big night for the faces since the good guys were the only survivors in the three elimination matches in 2006. With the way things went down, it would have been okay to split them up into two sides. It makes sense from a story perspective to do the match this way because if your team does the clean sweep then they should get to stick together. The split would be easy because Team DX had a clean sweep in their match, much to the delight of the crowd. It was a memorable night as fans chanted CM Punk's name long and hard, even though he was only on the ECW brand at that point and wasn't seen as being a big star in the eyes of management. His four teammates were well-established, however. Cena captained a team that had Lashley on it and it's no surprise that they got the win. Flair was the only survivor on a team of legends who went up against the young Spirit Squad group. How I Would Have Booked It: Spoiler: Cena wins! Just kidding... Cena was already the WWE Champion going to into the match, so he didn't need the win. What I would have done is have Lashley, Flair and both Hardys lose fairly early while Cena fights against three guys. In the end, he falls victim to a Superkick/Pedigree combo from Shawn/Hunter while CM Punk also survives for Team DX. It was a big night in Punk's career, so if he were to last until the very end it would be a great way to elevate him as a future star in WWE, which he was at the time.
