10 Best WWE Survivor Series Grand Finales That Didn’t Happen

4. 1991 - Six On Four Isn't Fair For Flair

Faces: Jim Duggan, Texas Tornado, Tito Santana (El Matador), Sgt. Slaughter, Hawk, Animal Heels: Ric Flair, Bryan Knobbs, Jerry Saggs, Blake Beverly In early 1991, WWE was pushing Sgt. Slaughter as a top heel who showed sympathy for Iraq and was against the United States' involvement in the Gulf War. By the end of the year, WWE did all they could to make people forget that by having Slaughter team up with the most American wrestler of them all, 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan. Their team swept their match while Hawk and Animal were also victorious in their match. On the heel side, Ric Flair was the sole survivor in his first Survivor Series match after jumping ship from WCW. It was a cheap win because others in the match were fighting around the ring while Flair outsmarted them all. With a vacant WWE Title on the line at the Royal Rumble, Flair was clearly being positioned as a top singles guy while the faces were mostly midcarders and a top tag team (Legion of Doom). How I Would Have Booked It: Even though I was a huge Flair fan (especially at this point in his career), it would hurt the faces too much if they didn't get the win. As I said, none of the faces were really main event level performers, but they were fairly big names and just based on how many of them there were, I'd put the faces over. Flair would be up against old rival Texas Tornado, Slaughter and both members of LOD in the end and those four faces would be too much for Flair.
