5. 2008 - Three Formidable Faces Try To Stop Orton's Legacy

Faces: Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, The Great Khali Heels: Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes What a unique trio on the face side with the legendary HBK, the ultra-popular masked Mysterio and the gigantic Khali joining forces. They were part of a winning Team Michaels side that beat Team JBL. Orton was aligned with Rhodes in the Legacy group - wrestles that were second or third generation and had famous wrestling fathers. It was a good concept that worked well with Orton leading the way while the young Rhodes was like a sponge, soaking up all of his knowledge and learning a lot. They were victorious against a Batista-led team of good guys. Looking back on his career, it could be argued that Orton was at his best in this period from late 2008 and into 2009 when his heel persona became more vicious than ever. How I Would Have Booked It: Orton outsmarts the faces to get the win. The heels could eliminate Khali early on to make it a regular tag match, then I would have Rhodes do something heelish and pin Mysterio. That leads to Michaels pinning Rhodes with a Sweet Chin Music only for Orton to capitalise immediately with an RKO from out of nowhere to get the decisive fall.
