Ric Flair's WWF run was fairly brief, only lasting just over a full year. During that time, the 'Nature Boy' seemed to regain confidence he had lost due to arguments with management in WCW. The 1992 Royal Rumble match remains one of his finest performances ever - The Nature Boy was the undoubted star of the show. He even managed to outshine the likes of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage, which is no mean feat. Entering at number 3, Flair lasted just over 60 minutes to become WWF Heavyweight Champion. The Rumble had been for the vacant title, and it seemed before the event that the company were still building towards the idea of booking Flair vs. Hogan at WrestleMania VIII. Those plans would change, confirmed when Sid Justice eliminated Hogan, thus setting up their collision at 'Mania. Flair's post-victory promo was a thing of beauty. Putting over the WWF Title as the greatest thing in the world, the wrestling machine dubbed that evening the greatest of his life, with all the emotion and excitement you'd expect from one of the greatest ever. It was one hell of a performance, and proved that Ric Flair was one of the greatest showmen in all of pro wrestling.
