10 Best WWE Wrestlers Of 2020 (So Far)
6. Drew McIntyre
Some people might say that Drew should be number one on this list but there’s a few reservations to him being any higher. For one thing, his match with Brock at 'Mania was a far cry from the classic it should have been, having the exact template as Strowman/Goldberg from the night before and being one of Brock’s most non effort matches in recent memory. The coronation was special but the match wasn’t great. His title run in empty arena has been solid, but the PPV matches have either had bad finishers or lacked that intangible quality to transcend it into greatness.
So why is Drew on this list? Because he has fulfilled that intangible greatness once already this year. In one of the most euphoric moments in recent WWE memory, Drew stormed into the Royal Rumble, eliminated Brock Lesnar after his run of terror, and immediately got a major pop. It was fantastic booking and cemented Drew’s face turn as something that would work with the audience. His eventual win wasn’t undermined by Edge’s surprise return either, his momentum and fan engagement maintained. It was a perfect moment.
On television as champion, he’s delivering great promos, having very good matches with workers like Andrade and fights with genuine passion no matter the circumstances. There’s no doubt that he’s going to have an undisputed singles classic by the end of the year, and he’s likely to be higher on this list in December.
