10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Extreme Rules 2021
1. The End Of The Demon
Roman Reigns is beating The Demon this weekend.
You can try and fantasy book a way out of it, but it is going to happen and sadly, it should happen. The work that has been done this past year to build Roman Reigns into a bonafide megastar has been stellar and Balor isn't the first big name to fall to the Tribal Chief.
The Fiend. Drew McIntyre. Edge. Kevin Owens. Daniel Bryan. John Cena.
It's a hell of a roll call of some of the biggest WWE stars of the last few years and not once as it felt wrong to see Roman Reigns have his hand lifted in victory. The pain for many here is how somehow, despite their proclivity to ruin things, the WWE has been very careful with The Demon.
Balor's alter-ego hasn't been seen in two years and the scarcity of the red and black paint has aided in keeping it special. Undefeated in paint, the fans don't want to see The Demon lose. But it is going to happen and with Brock Lesnar and a Saudi Arabian showdown on the horizon, Balor will, unfortunately, slip out of the main event picture once more.
Only this time, it will be with The Demon's aura broken and unlikely to ever recover. The bigger picture means that adding The Demon to Roman's list of scalps is the correct move.
But like any protected streak in wrestling, seeing one come to an end is usually more deflating than anything else.
