10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Payback 2020
7. More ThunderDome Shenanigans
Like it or not, it's hard to deny that the new ThunderDome set-up has infused WWE programming with some of that spectacle it has been missing since the empty arena shows began back in March. Yes, with bigger arenas, colourful screens and, perhaps most importantly, fan participation, WWE once again feels larger-than-life.
However, there has been one noticeable issue and it all revolves around said fan participation. While some fans have made the most of the opportunity to virtually appear on WWE - with some even going so far as to dress up as Pikachu - it hasn't been smooth-sailing for the company.
In its three uses thus far, there have been a number of issues created through the ThunderDome concept, with one fan holding up a sign saying "Fire Velveteen Dream" and another showcasing a photograph of Chris Benoit.
Virtual participation with fans was always going to be harder to monitor than physical participation (no security guards), so some expected this whenever the concept was unveiled. With that in mind, more gaffes on PPV (so close to SummerSlam, too) could very well end up overshadowing the ThunderDome experience once again.
