10 Big Ideas For The Ascension's WWE Main Roster Debut

10. Mold Them Like A Modern Day Legion Of Doom

Over the past week, we started to see a couple of vignettes to hype the debut of The Ascension to the main roster. The vignette was dark, smoky, and fit the persona of The Ascension as they look to welcome the WWE to the Wasteland. What struck me in the promo was the face paint and shoulder pad-like gear they were wearing. It was very similar to the Legion Of Doom, one of the greatest tag teams, if not THE greatest tag team of all-time in the history of professional wrestling. Molding The Ascension just like the Legion Of Doom is a great recipe for success because they have the similar make-up in their styles and look. Hawk and Animal were right around the 6'2" range; while Konnor is 6'5" and Viktor is 6'1". The only difference is Viktor is a lot more slender as The Legion Of Doom were both in the higher up in the scale near 300 pounds. When you look at the finishers that The Legion Of Doom and The Ascension use, they are a great use of both wrestlers, and are very similar. The Legion Of Doom used the Doomsday Device which is setting up the wrestler in an electric chair position while the other flies off the top rope to deliver a clothesline. The Ascension uses the Fall Of Man; where one takes out the legs while the other delivers a clothesline at the same time. There are a lot of similarities between the two, and molding The Ascension into a modern day Legion Of Doom can give them longevity in a tag team division that needs a top heel team.
