10 Big Mistakes WWE Can't Afford To Make At Roadblock: End Of The Line
8. Wasting Time With Filler
WWE have only announced six main card matches for Roadblock: End Of The Line, and for good reason. Sasha Banks and Charlotte’s 30-minute Iron Man match will likely stretch to 40 once entrances and celebrations are taken into account, the champion vs. champion main event will get significant time, and Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho will likely run at least 15-20 minutes. That’s a lot of action to cram into a 3-hour show, and while running long wouldn’t be a disaster, it’s something they’ll want to avoid.
The last thing WWE want to do is cram Roadblock with filler. The matches must take precedent, and if WWE fill the show with overlong video packages, needless backstage skits, and authority figure distractions, they’ll have to make cuts elsewhere. This could result in the Cruiserweight and/or Tag Team Championship matches going for just 6-8 minutes, and nobody wants that to happen.
Fans tune in to PPVs for great action, and trimming the matches will only leave people feeling shortchanged. Roadblock must be a lean, focused, and fast-moving show that flows seamlessly from match-to-match. That means no Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley, minimal shenanigans, and sadly, no Chris Jericho poking fun at whichever interviewer has the misfortune of bumping into him backstage.
