10 Big Mistakes WWE Can't Afford To Make At Roadblock: End Of The Line
5. Cesaro & Sheamus Fall Short Again
The New Day finally pulled it off: they are the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all-time. The popular trio broke Demolition’s 478-day record today (14th December, 2016), but it didn’t come easy. Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods came perilously close to dropping their belts in two Triple Threat matches on Raw this week, but they overcame some of WWE’s biggest stars that night, and they’ve earned their place in history.
Breaking the record has been The New Day’s only purpose over the past few months. It has created a serious logjam at the top of the division, and while there are a couple of teams ready to swoop-in and take the belts, they’ve been left spinning their wheels during The New Day’s quest for glory. At Roadblock, it’s time to finally re-establish genuine competition in the tag division, and transfer the belts to the next natural champions.
Sheamus & Cesaro’s “frenemies” story is reaching its conclusion, and the logical outcome is them becoming Tag Team Champions. A big win should seal their cohesion and cooperation once an for all, and with the record in the books, there’s no need to prolong The New Day’s run. Switching champions should completely revive the division, give both teams something new to do, and open up new possibilities for everyone below them.
