When NXT debuted in its original incarnation, which was a weird mix of American Idol and Ninja Warrior, everyone had their fingers crossed for Daniel Bryan but knew that Wade Barrett was going to become something big. He had the size, the look and the presence of a star from his first appearance, and his role as the leader of The Nexus seemed to solidify his future as a WWE main-eventer for years to come.

That's not how things went down however, and Barrett has been treading water for the past five years, despite several attempts to do literally anything with him. It's not Barrett's fault, but whenever WWE decides now is the time to pull the trigger on him, they seem to lose interest halfway through.

Earlier in the year he was given the honour of winning King of the Ring, but the most high-profile result of that was his role as fourth-wheel in the Stephen Amell match at SummerSlam. Now after filming a WWE Studios movie in the UK, King Barrett is back and apparently back to his dominating ways, however long they last.
