10 Big Questions From WWE Raw (31 August)

7. Will Seth Rollins Actually Break CM Punk's Record?

411Mania's Greg Demarco wrote this week about the possibility of a far greater record being broken: CM Punk's 434 day grasp on the WWE Championship, the longest reign of the modern era. As much as the WWE would love to have Nikki Bella break AJ's record Divas Championship reign, voiding CM Punk's status as the most successful champion of the modern era would be ten times sweeter - and Seth Rollins is the ideal candidate in this regard. First and foremost, he's a heel, and it's far easier to book a lengthy heel championship reign than it is a babyface. That's why CM Punk turned bad in the midst of his record-breaking run, giving him the necessary wiggle room to worm out of title challenges by various dastardly means. Rollins has already done so, and has also proven that he's more than capable of turning in fantastic in-ring performances with great consistency. The main issue with this would, of course, be the risk of fans turning on the title reign. Seth's time as champion has already been subject to immense scrutiny, given the tendency of his screwy title defences to close PPVs in unsatisfying fashion.
