10 Big Talking Points From WWE Fastlane 2017
6. No Undertaker Appearance
Tying into the previous point, it may have made the most sense for Reigns to have won via disqualification after an interference from the Undertaker. That way, the build for a prospective WrestleMania meeting between those two pretty much takes care of itself, while Strowman wouldn’t have had to eat the pinfall, thus saving face in the process.
Unfortunately, though, there wasn’t to be any such interference, with the Undertaker nowhere to be seen.
On the face of it, this one seems like a missed opportunity—not least because of the above reasons, but also because any Undertaker appearances is just about guaranteed to make a show a memorable one. But given the way the rest of the evening's matches panned out, Undertaker’s non-appearance starts to look a little more understandable.
With the endings to both the Women’s and Universal Championship bouts being affected by run-ins of their own, three interferences in the three biggest matches of the night would probably have been overkill, so perhaps we should be grateful for the lack of involvement from the Undertaker on this particular occasion.
Then again, couldn't they have simply altered the finish to either the Women’s or Universal Championship match?
