10 Big Talking Points From WWE Royal Rumble 2017
8. No Triple H Vs. Rollins Confrontation
We found on Raw last week that Seth Rollins wouldn’t be in the Royal Rumble, having surrendered his spot to Sami Zayn. That didn’t mean he wouldn’t be on the show in some capacity though, with many—myself included—expecting some kind of confrontation between him and Triple H.
Granted a showdown was teased on Saturday at the NXT Takeover show, but with Triple H simply walking away and Rollins being ejected by security, it hardly ended up being the most satisfying of exchanges.
And so the Rumble provided us with an opportunity to build on that segment and play out the next chapter in this protracted feud, but ultimately all we got was Michael Cole’s abridged recap of Rollins’ takeover at Takeover.
Looking at the bigger picture, this isn’t necessarily the end of the world, as we’ve still got a good couple of months in which to build this probable WrestleMania match-up. But that doesn’t change the fact that we’re still yet to see Rollins get one up on the Game at all, begging the question of how he’ll ever be able to goad Triple H into getting his hands dirty if the boss is always coming up trumps.
