10 Big TNA Signings That Were Completely Wasted

7. Tazz

Newer fans had known Tazz as the chuckling, affable announcer on SmackDown for years, but before that he was the Human Suplexing Machine. Deep down, you knew he wanted to cut one of those badass promos from his ECW days, and help someone get over in the process.

Even though he was no longer a wrestler, he still was a great talker, and at the time he was a much better one than his brief protege Samoa Joe.

In a nice touch, TNA hinted that Tazz was coming in, by having Joe wear a towel around his head on the way to the ring, which was one of his trademarks. They aligned briefly as part of the Main Event Mafia, and then Tazz left the group to go chuckle his way on to commentary.

Perhaps I’m the only one out there who believes this, but Don West was a pretty decent color commentator. He had an infectious passion for the product, he would call out storyline inconsistencies on-air and he was finally finding his groove when he was replaced. Hearing Tazz's voice every show just felt like another case of promoting WWE guys over TNA originals.

Tazz was fine in TNA, but he was underutilized in that he should have stuck by Joe (or any promising young talent) and tried to get his character back on track. It was a good pairing that was split up way too soon.

And Tenay and Tazz together? What else can you say but "meh?"

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
