10 Big TNA Signings That Were Completely Wasted
5. Mickie James
Oh Mickie what a pity TNA didn’t understand how to push you.
Much like an Aron Rex or Drew Galloway, Mickie was vastly underutilized in WWE, and fans couldn’t wait to see her appear on Impact. But had the behind-the-scenes players in TNA actually watched Raw and SmackDown over the years, they would have known what got Mickie over: playing a pscyho love interest of Trish.
As a babyface she was over as well, but wasn't quite as interesting as she once was in the stalker role. When she entered TNA, she was, of course, pushed as face who was better than every other Knockout combined times two...except for perhaps fellow WWE alumni Tara.
Mickie's hiring should have put The Knockouts back on the map, but they remained mid-card time fillers with little storyline support. She did end up becoming the Knockouts Champion three times, but none of those runs were particularly memorable. Unless the company was going to fill out the rest of the division with worthy challengers for her to battle, then it was largely a waste of time and money.
In conclusion, Mickie in TNA was roughly 10% as interesting as she was at her peak in WWE.
