10 Big TNA Signings That Were Completely Wasted

4. Mick Foley

Like Kevn Nash (but even more so), Mick Foley wanted to come to TNA to put over younger talent. The man has done a fantastic job of doing that over the course of his career, such as getting Triple H and Randy Orton to that next level. He was someone that TNA actually badly needed.

Guess what? He was completely wasted!

When Foley first came into the company, it seemed like a pretty big deal. He was a hero of the Attitude Era and left well before he wore out of welcome. Of course, in TNA he quickly was placed in a storyline with with Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett right out of the gate.

Again like Nash, Foley was involved in an angle with Alex Shelley, which could have made him the X Division and tag wrestler a big player in the company, but that too was dropped. Foley basically reverted to a goofball commissioner-type role from the year 2000, which felt dated in 2008 (let alone 2016!), and he continued to rub elbows on-air with the likes of Sting, Hulk Hogan, Jeff Jarrett.

The lowlight of his time there was his participation in the absolutely embarrassing ECW reunion in EV 2.0. Oh, and he also became the TNA Heavyweight Champion at one point. Foley would have been best served as a guy who occasionally stepped into the ring only in big matches against younger talents like Shelley to put them over.

He was a good ambassador for TNA, but they never treated him with much respect (like bothering to mention his Daily Show appearances). In the end, neither Foley or TNA seemed to have a nice day, or a nice run with each other.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
