Despite being the biggest star in the history of wrestling, Steve Austin never returned to the ring following his retirement match against the Rock at Wrestlemania XIX. Austin has made various appearances for the company since then, but he never laced up the boots and had a comeback match like Mick Foley, the Rock, or Hulk Hogan. There were never really any rumors about Austin returning to the ring either. That is, not until recently. CM Punk first floated out Austin's name as his dream opponent a few years ago. Fans instantly went crazy envisioning a possible Austin vs. Punk Wrestlemania match but, unfortunately, that never came to fruition. Instead, Austin stated he was not interested in a comeback and the rumors went away. More recently though, Austin's name has emerged as a possible participant in Wrestlemania XXXII, emanating from the Dallas Cowboys football stadium, very close to Austin's hometown. With an expected 100,000 fans being in attendance, the card is going to need to be the biggest that WWE can possibly assemble. Even Austin's friend Jim Ross stated that he would love to see Austin wrestling one last match in front of the biggest crowd in WWE history in his home state of Texas. Of course, anyone who knows Steve knows that Austin will not settle for anything but a great match. Austin will want to get back into ring shape and hand-select an opponent who will give him that big match that he deserves. Austin certainly is not having a match at Wrestlemania XXXI but it is not out of the question for him to appear in late 2015, prepping for a run to Wrestlemania XXXII.
