10 Big WWE Returns That Could Happen In 2022

1. The Rock

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns remains Vince McMahon's white whale.

No money match of this calibre exists anywhere else in WWE and, indeed, pro wrestling as a whole. Reigns vs. Rock is the one. It's a condemnation of McMahon's creative rot that he has only a 49-year-old who started outgrowing wrestling two decades ago to rely on in such a capacity (wrestling's most successful promoter ever should be able to engineer these things in-house), but it's WWE's biggest current star vs. the sport's biggest mainstream crossover star ever. It's huge.

It won't happen at WrestleMania 38, where Roman is likely to face Brock Lesnar instead, but that doesn't mean Rock won't return this year. By all accounts, he wants to do the match. It's a case of finding a hole in his ridiculous schedule and putting together a plan that works for him.

Rocky was pegged to return at Survivor Series 2021. This was scrapped a few months in advance, though if the circumstances align, and everything falls into place, he can show up on another major 2022, setting things up, perhaps, for WrestleMania 39.
