10 Biggest AEW Success Stories (So Far)

Darby Allin and Private Party aren't AEW's only triumphs...

Boasting an increasingly impressive roster, All Elite Wrestling have had mixed results when it comes to the level of success their talents have had.

Take Miro for example, The ever-popular former WWE star came into All Elite on the post-All Out edition of Dynamite as Kip Sabian's best man for his wedding to Penelope Ford. Four months on, the Bulgarian is yet to really leave his impact on AEW, and has instead been relegated to an often tedious rivalry with Kip opposite Best Friends.

It just isn't what we expected when 'The Bulgarian Brute' came through the tunnel on 9 September.

He won't be the last AEW talent to receive such wonky presentation in AEW, of course, but most wrestlers who have come into the promotion have seen their fortunes go in the opposite direction. Miro is an outlier.

There are some guys destined for immediate greatness upon signing with the Tony Khan-helmed promotion, while for others, it takes them a while longer before they too realise that same level of greatness. They don't necessarily need to have tasted championship gold, so long as they've been presented as a major deal in AEW.

Sometimes, all it takes is a change of character...

10. Powerhouse Hobbs

AEW Dar typically sees regular AEW talent battling outsiders without any affiliation to the canon stories seen on Dynamite and pay-per-views. Thus, you'd assume nothing much would come of it, right?

Will Hobbs, now known as Powerhouse Hobbs, would say otherwise.

The Team Taz member made such an impression on AEW executives that we was the only non-regular member of the AEW roster (aside from the debuting Matt Sydal, of course) to enter the 2020 Casino Battle Royale at All Out. Not long after, he would be signed to a contract, put in segments involving Jon Moxley and Cody Rhodes, and later turned heel to join the Taz-helmed faction alongside Brian Cage and Ricky Starks.

Hobbs now regularly dons an attire similar to the one worn by 'The Human Suplex Machine' throughout his career. There are big things coming his way in the imminent future.

Had the All Out appearance been a sole big-time spot for ol' Will, then things would have no doubt played out differently. That he used the Tuesday night opportunities to work his way into a full-time gig, though, proves that the powers that be have faith in him to succeed. Aligned with Taz, Cage, and Starks, Hobbs has come a long, long way from jobbing to the likes of Shawn Spears
