10 Biggest Breakout WWE Stars Of 2016
6. Carmella
Carmella was a late-round draft pick of the SmackDown brand, an afterthought of sorts. So far down on the list was she that many probably had no idea she had received her call-up. It only took a few weeks for her to leave her mark, though, as she turned heel and attacked Nikki Bella.
It was a shocking incident that seemed out-of-character for the fun-loving female. Without Enzo Amore and Big Cass to associate herself with, though, WWE Creative recognized the urgency for Carmella to undergo an attitude change if she was to succeed on Tuesday nights.
Thus far, it has worked.
At Backlash, Carmella was one of the final two competitors battling for the right to be the first SmackDown women's champion. She ultimately tapped to Becky Lynch's Disarmer but the fact that management thought enough of her to put her in that position suggests we are only seeing the beginning of the Fabulous One's journey to bigger and better things as part of WWE's main roster.
