10 Biggest Criticisms Of The WWE Right Now

9. Unfunny "Comedy" Sketches

There's an old saying in wrestling that "funny doesn't equal money." Now, there have been some notable exceptions where comedy can have a place in wrestling (Mick Foley, Edge and Christian, Chris Jericho, etc.) but these are not the norm. The only thing worse than bad acting is bad comedy and WWE has seemingly excelled at putting on comedy skits that aren't only not funny but go on forever and ever. How many times have we've seen a fart or a crap joke (usually involving the Big Show)? How many times did "Big" Dick Johnson parade around in his small underwear? How about the Great Khali's Kiss Cam? Did anyone, anywhere find any of this stuff funny? Yes, guys like the Rock, Steve Austin, and Kurt Angle incorporated comedy into their promos at times. However, they always knew how to turn up the intensity and their characters were never considered comedy characters. Today, workers like Santino and Emma seemingly exist only to tell bad jokes and have terrible matches. Why am I supposed to care about Santino? Because he puts a sock puppet on his hand and power walks around the ring? Who cares? 3MB gets absolutely no reaction when they come out. Brodus Clay's dancing character was a complete flop. Even the resident "franchise" of WWE, John Cena, cuts some of the goofiest promos at the most inappropriate times. Seemingly every time Cena needs to take an opponent seriously, he cuts a stupid promo that treats the match and the opponent like an afterthought to his latest fart joke.
