6. Big Show Looks Like A Joke When He Loses A Sumo Match To Akebono (WrestleMania 21)
It's not only the Divas division that has a hard time around Mania season. Big Show, despite being a multi-time world champion and WWE stalwart, has an abysmal WrestleMania record, with only 4 wins and 10 losses in his 14 matches. Whatever way you slice it, that's not a good record for The Worlds Largest Athlete, and WWE actually played into this fact for the storyline lead-up to his WrestleMania 28 Intercontinental Championship match with Cody Rhodes. However, perhaps the worst of Big Show's indignities came at WrestleMania 21, where he took part in a sumo wrestling contest with Akebono. As if the sight of the seven-foot behemoth wearing the scandalously revealing 'mawashi' wasn't hideous enough, Akebono summarily disposed of Big Show in less than two minutes, rendering the big man as the joke of the evening. It's hard to understand what WWE hoped to accomplish here, as surely making one of your biggest stars look like a fool is bad for business? Interestingly, Akebono went on to forge a career in wrestling, appearing for such storied promotions as All Japan Pro Wrestling (where he is currently one half of the Tag Team Champions), Dragon Gate and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
