10 Biggest Failed WWE Pushes
5. Chris Masters
Speaking of wrestlers whose looks make Vince go weak at the knees, Chris Masters was perhaps the quintessential example of a guy who had the body but not the charisma or ring ability to make to the top of the WWE tree.
In fairness to the Masterpiece, though, you have to put his failure in its proper context. He had just turned 22 when he made his Monday Night Raw bow, and what followed was a gimmick of the kind we had seen too many times before.
In essence, Masters would invite his colleagues to take on his Masterlock Challenge, wherein he applied a full nelson whilst they sat on a chair in the middle of the ring. Apart from anything else, it was just plain dull.
While he could easily beat up guys half his size, Masters was made to look like a joke any time he got in the ring with someone of equal or greater standing. His early momentum, as a result, fell by the wayside, and two WWE runs later he still hasn't held title gold.
