10 Biggest Final WWE Royal Rumble Entrant Flops

8. The Warlord (1992)

Tugboat Royal Rumble
WWE Network

Time spent in match: 01:45

Eliminations: 0

As the countdown to the thirtieth and final entrant for 1992’s Rumble dwindled, the audience were teased from the commentary desk that “It is The Warlord, but you never know”. Unfortunately, it was The Warlord. He had a great menacing look (6 ft 5 in and over 300lbs), but never really excelled in a WWE ring, either as a singles wrestler or as one half of The Powers of Pain (with The Barbarian).

Warlord went after Roddy Piper and formed an alliance with Rick Martel. He had the misfortune of entering the match while its stars were in full action, though. He was overshadowed by Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair brawling on the outside, Sid Justice’s brutal elimination of Sgt. Slaughter, and Piper using IRS’s tie to choke and eliminate him. Then Warlord soon fell victim to Hogan and Sid.

Though a flop at #30, Terry Szopinski, the man behind The Warlord, is better represented by his time in NWA. He is a respected figure in the wrestling community. Szopinski helped a young Chris Jericho during his time in Japan and Batista named him as his all-time favourite wrestler.
