10 Biggest Last-Minute WWE WrestleMania Main Event Changes
6. Reigns Finally Gets His Revenge - WrestleMania 36 Night 1
After two Mania main events where he got screwed around at the last minute, Roman Reigns decided that he was going to be the spanner that got thrown into WWE's works.
When the pandemic first hit, those with compromised immune systems were rightfully advised to isolate themselves in order to protect themselves against infection. As a leukaemia survivor, Reigns fell into that category.
The whole pandemic and subsequent lockdown caused a bit of a rethink for WWE, seeing as how the first show due to take place behind closed doors was WrestleMania 36. Reigns not being available was a big issue, as he was scheduled to face Goldberg at the event for the Universal Championship.
To fill the Tribal Chief-shaped hole in their programming, WWE announced that Braun Strowman would be taking Reigns' place.
This bout didn't actually end up as the main event, but you have to imagine that the company were planning on putting Reigns and Goldberg on last, especially if they were going to do a two-night format.
The Monster Among Men defeated Bill, winning his first world title to the sounds of... deafening silence.
Pandemic wrestling was rough.
