From time-to-time a wrestling angle or match will make viewers feel uncomfortable for one reason or another. In 2003, one of those instances was the "I Quit" Match between Vince McMahon and his own daughter at the appropriately named No Mercy. Wrestling has seen its share of Male vs Female matches and that continues to this day on the independent scene but the stuff with Vince and Steph was just presented in a different light. The angle wasn't portrayed as a male wrestler squaring off with a female wrestler. It was an angry father all but threatening to beat the hell out of his own daughter in an attempt to "teach her a lesson". Many felt the build to the match itself was crossing the line but then the match happened. Vince really did beat the hell out of his own daughter. He wasn't anywhere near as stiff a worker as he is when he was facing the likes of Steve Austin or The Undertaker but he also isn't someone that is trained enough to make things look "snug" without being "snug". Vince matches usually have a major buzz around them but this one was different on all counts. It didn't get the same reaction because people couldn't believe he was willing to go through with it. Just an odd event all around.
