10 Biggest Misplaced Complaints About WWE Today

6. Part-Timers Are Too Dominant

The “part-timer” discussion has cooled off since WrestleMania, but Brock Lesnar keeps it relevant. Goldberg and The Undertaker are gone, but WWE’s de facto “top belt” is currently around the waist of a man who only works a handful of shows a year. This creates a number of different problems, but for the most part, WWE’s reliance on such performers over the past few months has been justified.

Raw’s viewership figures increased with Goldberg around, showing that despite all the criticism thrown at his run, people still wanted to see the former WCW Champion perform. Furthermore, two of WrestleMania’s strongest matches (Goldberg vs. Lesnar, AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon) both featured part-time performers, and without their presence, the show would have suffered.

These men have been WWE’s biggest stars since the turn of the year. This says a lot about the company’s inability to build credible main eventers, but from a business standpoint, it makes sense to push the biggest stars into the biggest roles. Brock’s Universal Title reign will give the belt a sense of credibility that former champion Kevin Owens could only dream of, and as long as the part-timers are over, WWE will keep them in the spotlight.
