Mercedes Moné burst back into view with a bang on the 3 June episode of AEW Dynamite by beating Alex Windsor in the quarter finals of this year's Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Now, Moné goes on to face Hazuki at the semi final stage.

The outspoken All Elite star addressed her 5-6 month absence from the company with a statement in her bespoke Moné Mag. In that, Mercedes said she's come to realise that "there’s nobody more impatient than wrestling fans".

Elaborating, Moné went on to add: "Y’all are the type of people who look up the ending of a movie before finishing it. You love not being surprised. You love not being present and fully in the moment because you’re so caught up in the fantasy".

It's hard to know whether she was calling fans out or paying them a compliment. Or both.

Mercedes dropped all of the titles she'd been holding during her time away from AEW programming. She also attended the premiere for Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu. However, her comeback win over Windsor should breathe some fresh life into the bones of AEW's women's division, and there's no doubting that boss Tony Khan would rather have Moné on screen than off.

The wrestler says she's "feeling better than ever" after some much-needed relaxation. She shot down rumours of a contract dispute with AEW, and other conjecture that she was pregnant. Nope, Mercedes just wanted to chill out for the first time in a long time.
