10 Biggest Missed Opportunities From The Undertaker's WWE Career
6. Repeating History Instead Of Making It
The Undertaker is the personification of Darwin's evolutionary theory. He's adapted so many times over the course of his career that he has never grown stale as a character or a performer. Unfortunately, WWE didn't get that memo.
Look, when you've been around for as long as The Deadman has, you're going to find yourself in some similar situations. That's just the way things are and that, at the very least, is a good excuse as to why he and Kane feuded with each other so many times. After all, the story behind the feuds were different each time around.
However, for some reason, WWE was so hellbent on revisiting the past when it came to The Demon of Death Valley that they literally repeated storylines on multiple occasions.
Remember his 2006 feud with the Great Khali? That was essentially a much better rehash of his infamous program with Giant Gonzalez 13 years earlier. What about how Paul Bearer's 'unexpected' betrayal at Hell In A Cell 2010 was a goofier remake of a genuinely crushing moment 14 years prior to it? And who could forget the fact that he suffered a second loss at WrestleMania to an over-pushed star who didn't need the victory only to tease retirement afterwards - just like he did at the same event three years beforehand.
'Taker's given WWE some of its most refreshing storylines over the years, but for some reason, the creative team always gravitated towards recycling the past instead of allowing him to continue paving the way for the future.
