Chris Jericho has had a long, successful WWE career. He’s one of the most charismatic wrestlers in the sport’s history, a surefire Hall-of-Famer, and a multi-time champion.

Jericho’s done it all, and in 2000, he was absolutely flying. While backstage politics and questionable booking stalled his advancement after crossing over from WCW, Jericho quickly won the fans over with entertaining promos and thrilling ring work.

He challenged Triple H to a World Title match in April 2000, and capitalised on confusion between the champion and referee Earl Hebner to pin Hunter and become champion.

The place erupted, but it wasn’t to be and Triple H quickly coerced Hebner into reversing the decision, pulling the title from Jericho’s grasp as quickly as he’d won it. The crowd’s reaction showed that this was the perfect time for a Chris Jericho title run.

Regrettably, WWE disagreed.
