10 Biggest Mysteries Still Surrounding WrestleMania 33
9. Will Finn Balor Wrestle?
Finn Bálor’s six-month injury absence is almost over. Having last appeared during last month’s United Kingdom Title Tournament, the Irishman got physical with Andrade “Cien” Almas and NXT Champion Bobby Roode at this week’s NXT TV tapings. Recent reports suggest that while he still hasn’t been medically cleared to compete, he’s set to return to Raw in the next two weeks, and will feature at WrestleMania in some form.
There’s no word as to what kind of role he’ll play, however. WWE have exercised a great deal of caution in reintroducing injured stars lately, and they may hold-off on rushing Bálor back even if he’s cleared before Mania. Furthermore, most of Raw’s major players are already tied-up with big-time matches, and throwing Bálor into something as unimportant as the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal would be a gross misuse of his talents.
That being said, Raw is extremely light on top-level babyfaces at the moment, particularly with Seth Rollins out. Fans would love to see him wrestle in Orlando, and his ring entrance may even rival The Undertaker’s in terms of spectacle. WWE only have a few weeks to put a compelling program together should they book Bálor in a match, but it’d go over far stronger than any non-wrestling role.
