Fans have been pining for Shinsuke Nakamura’s promotion to the WWE main roster from the moment he debuted. His TakeOver: Dallas match with Sami Zayn was an instant classic, and it was immediately clear that he was ready for the spotlight. Staying in NXT has made him a two-time champion and the brand’s franchise player, but he has nothing left to do at Full Sail University and should jump into the big time, sooner rather than later.

Nakamura recently stated that he’d love to face AJ Styles at this year’s event, though Styles was quick to downplay talk of such a match on Twitter. AJ is expected to face SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon in Orlando, so this situation can be easily written-off as Nakamura trolling the fans. Regardless, Nakamura is currently being advertised for WrestleMania Axxess VIP sessions as a main roster member. His call-up has never been closer.

Nakamura will challenge Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship at TakeOver: Orlando the night before WrestleMania. If he wins, there’s next to no chance of seeing him on Raw or SmackDown anytime soon. Should he lose, however, he’ll have a clear path to the main roster, and could debut on the big show itself. Who knows, maybe WWE will even treat us to round two of his epic battle with Zayn...
