Hulk Hogan is finally ready to come in from the cold.

The Hulkster was exiled from the wrestling business in the wake of his racism scandal in 2015, but his legal victory over Gawker Media has cleared the way for his return. The scandal surrounding his name is finally lifting, and after terminating his contract in 2015, it sounds like WWE are open to negotiating with Hogan again.

Dave Meltzer expects Hogan’s return to happen “sooner rather than later,” and there’s speculation that he could appear at WrestleMania 33. Bringing him back at the biggest show of the year befits Hogan’s legacy as one of the most important wrestlers in the sport’s history, but it’s all speculation at the moment. Hogan remains invisible in the WWE Universe.

Hogan hosted WrestleMania XXX in 2014, and appeared alongside Scott Hall and Kevin Nash as part of the New World Order the following year. He hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since, and while his return will no doubt draw understandable criticism from a portion of WWE’s fanbase, it’s clear that many are willing to forgive his transgressions.

There’s always room for nostalgia at WrestleMania, and while WWE have new Hall of Famer Kurt Angle waiting in the wings, Hogan is the biggest name available for such a role this year.
