It sounds like WWE have big plans for women’s wrestling at WrestleMania 33.

Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax are expected to compete in a four-way for the Raw Women’s Championship, and while the SmackDown plans are up in the air at the moment, WWE will likely come up with something strong.

Furthermore, recent reports suggest that WWE have reached out to several former female talents to appear at the event, with Kelly Kelly stoking the fire by confirming her attendance at the event earlier this week.

Former Women’s Champion Victoria also teased an appearance on Snapchat, while Katie Lea Burchill recently posted a photo of herself with the recently returned Mickie James on Instagram. There’s no word on who’ll exactly be involved, or in what, but Dave Meltzer confirmed the reports in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It looks like fans will be seeing a number of old faces on April 2nd.

WWE could produce something similar to the “Miss WrestleMania” Battle Royal at Mania XXV, when the likes of Torrie Wilson, Sunny, and Molly Holly returned to action. A big, multi-woman match makes sense, but there’s every chance they’ll be used in a non-wrestling capacity instead. Whatever the case, expect WWE to dedicate some serious airtime to women’s wrestling in Orlando.
