10 Biggest One Hit Wonders In Wrestling History

1. Tom Magee

Tom Magee Bret Hart

Known for: Vince McMahon's desperation to crown him as the next Hulk Hogan, and the ensuing lost artefact trial match vs. Bret Hart that exposed Magee for what he was: a dud.

It was a stupid idea. Hulk Hogan was still a year out from his WrestleMania 3, bodyslamming Andre The Giant peak, and Tom Magee, while toned, muscular, and mulleted, was as in-ring savvy as Kelly Kelly attempting a tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Hart, working a one-man show, made Magee look like he was partaking in Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada from Dominion 2018.

Why didn't he thrive after: because Vince McMahon isn't blind.

For all his inadequacies, hiring out-of-touch ex-bodybuilders to show 'em how it's done, even he could see that Tom Magee was, in fact, not the next Hulk Hogan.

Magee wasn't gifted. His pacing was sloppy - at one point, as seen in the image above this text, he held Hart's foot for what felt like an eternity - and his movements weren't far from what you'd expect to see from an exuberant teenager on their first day of wrestling training. He had no right to be considered to fill Hulk Hogan's shoes.

Still: this provided the first authentic glimpse into Vince McMahon's muscle-obsessed mind.
