10 Biggest Oversellers In Wrestling

8. Mick Foley

Mick Foley is a completely unique entity on this list, because he was able to sell effectively in more than one guise. As Cactus Jack and Dude Love however, he wasn't quite as verbal as he would be during his stint as Mankind. The overselling Foley decided to use fell mainly in the early years of the gimmick, especially when he was heel. It wasn't uncommon to see Mankind rock back and forth, muttering to himself and tearing out his hair. Then, he was also capable of screaming in absolute pain, a horrifying screech that sounded like a pig more than a human being. It was routinely piercing, but sold the idea that Mankind was in trouble during his matches. He wasn't there as someone to feel sympathy for, it was more disturbing than anything else. Foley also memorably began stabbing his own knee during a main event match against Shawn Michaels in October, 1996. As part of In Your House: Mind Games, Mankind's knee was giving him trouble. Instead of trying to recuperate, he battered the injured body part. This added to the drama of the bout, making Mankind look like a lunatic. Foley regularly used selling to paint vivid pictures.
