10 Biggest Oversellers In Wrestling

6. Terry Funk

In similar fashion to a man he shared the ring with on many occasions, Terry Funk used a lot of verbal screaming in the same way as Mick Foley. Often however, Funk would take things even further than Mick, swearing at his opponents and begging them to give him some more punishment. This was ludicrously effective, as it allowed Funk to come across as wholly tough. To his credit, Terry Funk wasn't just a good hardcore wrestler who relied on weapon shots to get through his matches. It's true that this became his formula in later years, but he was once a tremendous brawler overall. Selling was entirely crucial to this, and few could ham it up and make violence seem meaty like the 'Funker'. Whether he was calling his rival a 'bastard' or a 'son of a bitch', Funk was always selling. This was a different way of doing so, and it came across that Terry genuinely had hatred in his heart for those causing him such pain. Fans related to that, because Funk could convey such realism in his performances. Undeniably, it was also melodramatic.
