10 Biggest Problems Facing WWE Right Now

3. "Budget Cuts"

On top of wrestlers letting their contracts expire, it seems every few weeks there is another round of WWE releases due to budget cuts. Since 15 April 2020, WWE has released over 120 wrestlers, producers, and other on air talent. Each time a mass release happens, the reports are that WWE is trimming the budget, which only serves to infuriate fans as Vince McMahon constantly reports record profits for his company.

In the past, when WWE would release a chunk of its roster, it would generally be wrestlers who have not contributed much to the product in recent times. Now established stars like Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, and Samoa Joe have fallen victim to the almighty dollar. This is on top of rising stars who have their knees cut out from underneath them, like Hit Row, Keith Lee, Karrion Kross, and Bronson Reed.

It is not clear what the end goal is for WWE constantly trimming its budget. Rumours have focused on Vince McMahon potentially selling his prized company to the highest bidder, but there has been nothing solid on that front. With the notorious 15 April fast approaching, there is no telling who is next to be released.
